New Address
Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. The past few weeks have been very busy, long and tiring. I have been busy moving into a new apartment and basically setting up a household from scratch so it has been interesting... Everything seems to take twice as long and is twice the hassle here. I guess I am just used to the convenience and accessibility of the States. Seriously, though everything here closes at 5 on the weekdays and 7 on the weekends, even the one "24 hour" store called ASDA closes at 8 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. I guess they have a thing called "God's Law" that says stores can only be open for 6 hours on Sunday. I don't think God would care too much if I ran to the store on Sunday for some much needed groceries.
Ok since the last time I wrote anything here is what has happened...
I was walking down the street with my friend wearing jeans, a black jacket and a scarf minding my own business one night when all of a sudden a guy ran up behind me and slapped me right on the butt! Needless to say I was shocked and had a few choice words for him to which he seemed really shocked and confused by my accent.
I started my job which has been going really well. Everyone is very kind and I think I will be able to make some good friends.
I tested out the National Healthcare Service, and walked into a clinic to see a doctor and walked out in about 30min and didn't have to pay a dime!
I moved into a new apartment called Rokerlea, which is literally a roundabout.
I rode with my friend as she drove on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right side of the car for the first time...weird and scary.
I have eaten... a full English breakfast, which consisted of baked beans, toast, an egg over-easy, mushrooms, a slice of tomato, ham, and a hash brown, hot crossed buns, bangers and mash (mashed potatoes and sausage), mushy peas (which tastes as disgusting as it sounds), bubble and squeak (fried potato and cabbage), yorkshire pudding (which is not a dessert), and a "Sunday dinner" which was roast beef, peas, carrots, some grey mushy stuff, some orange mushy stuff, pork rinds, mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, all covered in gravy. That is the breakdown of my culinary adventures thus far. It really is true what they say, the food in England sucks!
Ok, that is all for now. I will post some pictures and videos as soon as I can.

Adventures
Hello all,
Here are some photos of my recent adventures and of the home I'm staying in Sunderland. I went to a cathedral in Durham which was absolutely beautiful, but I was only allowed to take pictures of the outside. I will try to post some more stuff but unfortunately my internet access is very limited so I'm not able to put as much up as I'd like.

I'm Here!
Hello everyone,
Well I'm here. I landed safely in England and made my way to the house I will be staying in. It is beautiful here. Everything is green and lush. It is pretty chilly though. I have just been out exploring around my new surroundings and try to find basic things that I need. It is very different from the States but also pretty similar in many ways. It's pretty late right now and I'm trying to adjust my internal clock to the time difference so I will write more a little later this week.
Cheers,
Katey
